The Medical Surveillance Program provides medical evaluations for Department of Transportation (DOT) and Commercial Motor Vehicle operators. Our providers are licensed "medical examiners" listed on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) National Registry:
A DOT physical exam is valid for up to 24 months. Sometimes, a medical examiner may issue a medical examiner's certificate for less than 24 months when it is necessary to monitor an on-going health condition, such as high blood pressure.
If the medical examiner determines that the driver is physically qualified to operate a commercial motor vehicle, the medical examiner will complete a Medical Examiner's Certificate and provide a copy of the results to the driver.
