Wellness Recommendations

Blood Pressure

Keep your blood pressure at or below 120/80 mmHg by getting daily physical activity, quitting smoking and minimizing salt in your diet. Please discuss with your personal doctor to see if medication is needed.

BMI

A healthy Body Mass Index ranges between 18.5-24.9. Healthy eating habits and daily physical activity are key to achieving and maintaining a healthy BMI.

Cholesterol

Develop a plan with your personal doctor using diet and/or medication to achieve total cholesterol less than 200mg/dL.

Blood Sugar

Your fasting blood sugar goal is less than 100 mg/dL. Even small amounts of weight loss and exercise can prevent or delay adults from developing type 2 diabetes. Please discuss your blood sugar with your personal doctor.

Tobacco use

Quitting smoking and vaping lowers your risk of many diseases as well as early death. For help quitting, call: 1-800-QUIT-NOW or visit: https://www.cdc.gov/tobacco/campaign/tips/quit-smoking/index.html.

Physical Activity

Set a goal of 150 minutes per week of moderate aerobic activity (such as brisk walking).

Liver Health

To keep your liver healthy, drink alcohol in moderation (up to1 drink/day for women, up to 2 drinks/day for men), keep a healthy body weight, use medications as directed and do not mix medications with alcohol. Please discuss your liver test results with your doctor.

Nutrition

Make diet choices every day that emphasize vegetables, fruit, grains and protein. Limit fats, added sugars, added salt and alcohol.

Vaccines

Vaccines protect adults against serious disease. The CDC recommends that all adults receive an annual flu and COVID vaccine as well as a tetanus vaccine every ten years. Please check in with your personal doctor to make sure you are up to date on vaccines that are recommended for you.
